![]() Genetic TestingĪt our office we offer a non-invasive prenatal test that looks for certain chromosome conditions in the baby. Ultrasounds are safe to have in pregnancy and are regularly used to examine the pelvic organs for problems. These devices emit sound waves which then produce black and white images on a monitor. Some ultrasounds are performed when a device is placed outside of the body, and some ultrasounds are performed by placing a transducer in the vaginal canal. UltrasoundĪn ultrasound creates pictures of the internal organs of the body from sound waves. The fluid shows more detail of the inside of the uterus than when ultrasound is used alone, and is often ordered when a woman has had a normal ultrasound but is still having symptoms such as abnormal bleeding or infertility. It is a technique in which your physician injects fluid into your uterus through a tube in your vaginal canal and then performs an ultrasound on your uterus. Sonohysterogram (SIS)Ī sonohysterogram is a diagnostic procedure that does not require any anesthesia and is not considered a surgery. There is no incision for this procedure, and it can often be completed with limited or no anesthesia. The images from the hysteroscope are transmitted to a monitor so the physician can see actual images of the inside of your uterus. The hysteroscope which is a thin, telescope-like instrument is inserted into the uterus through the vagina and cervix in order to provide a way for physicians to look inside your uterus. Hysteroscopy helps physicians diagnose and treat uterine problems. There are several options including one that is inserted under the skin of a woman's upper arm. ![]() It also helps to treat heavy periods, resulting in shorter and lighter periods. IUDs gives you birth control that lasts for several years. Hormonal IUDs release small amounts of hormones locally into your uterus. There are two types of IUDs, hormonal and non-hormonal. Reversible/Long-term Intrauterine Contraception This procedure is performed in our office. While physicians used to have to remove the entire uterus to solve some issues, it is now fairly common to use one of several devices to destroy a thin layer of the lining of the uterus in order to stop heavy bleeding. They typically take less than 10 minutes to perform. Typically used to treat abnormal bleeding problems, endometrial ablations can be performed in the office or in an outpatient setting when they are performed alongside other procedures. Endometrial Ablations are common, minimally invasive alternatives to hysterectomy. (Quick Geek check: Encryption is when encryption software turns a message into an indecipherable sequence called ciphertext that only the intended addressee can decipher). In cases where bruising has already occurred, applying cold and hot compresses can aid in the healing process. ![]() By adopting proper pressure techniques, monitoring the puncture site, and being mindful of physical activities following blood draw, you can minimize the chances of bruising. Understanding the causes of bruising after a blood draw empowers you to take preventative measures and manage bruising effectively. Applying heat to the bruised area promotes local blood circulation and facilitates the dissipation of bruising. Hot Compress:Īfter the initial 24 hours have passed, you can switch to a hot compress using a warm towel. Cold compression should be administered within 24 hours of the blood draw. Repeat this process every 20 minutes for optimal results. Wrap an ice pack in a towel or soak a towel in cool water, then gently apply the compress to the bruised area for 10 minutes. Cold Compress:Īpply an immediate cold compress to the affected area to reduce blood flow and minimize bruising. If bruising has already occurred after a blood draw, there are several steps you can take to alleviate discomfort and aid in the healing process: 1. In order to avoid bruising, what should we do? Physical Strain:Įngaging in strenuous activities, such as lifting heavy objects, immediately after applying pressure can disrupt the healing process of the blood vessels and result in continued bleeding, leading to bruising. Regular monitoring allows for timely detection and necessary adjustments to ensure proper clotting. Lack of Monitoring:įailing to check for bleeding while applying pressure can impede the hemostasis process and increase the likelihood of bruising. Rubbing the needle site while applying pressure or moving the swab back and forth can disrupt the blood clotting process and cause re-bleeding from the previously clotted vessel, leading to bruising beneath the skin. If the pressure is released too quickly, the needle point may not close completely, leading to ongoing bleeding and subsequent bruising. Insufficient pressure applied to the puncture site is another leading cause of subcutaneous bruising. If pressure is only applied to the surface needle point and not to the one inside the blood vessel, the puncture site on the vein may continue to bleed and accumulate beneath the skin, resulting in a bruise or, in severe cases, a subcutaneous hematoma. At this point, there are two needle points-one in the skin and one in the vein. After piercing the skin, the needle travels a short distance beneath the skin before reaching the superficial vein. Needle Placement:ĭuring the blood draw, the nurse typically inserts the needle at a specific angle (usually 15°) to ensure proper insertion into the vein. Here are five common reasons behind bruising following a blood draw: 1. Understanding these causes can help you take appropriate measures to minimize bruising. Bruising after a blood draw can be attributed to various factors. So then GitHub released Atom which was more or less a sublime clone, but it was built on technology that was inherently slower than sublime. The main problem with sublime was that 5-6 years ago, development seemed to be on pause and because it was closed source, people couldn't go in and help fix the problems. enhanced text editor that Atom and vscode were trying to mimic. They all are just a click away from the Command Palette. If you are interested, just reply to this post and I can link you the most useful plugins for web dev in SublimeText. If you check on the Internet right now, you will most likely see VS Code extensions that are recommended for that and that some if not most have an equivalent in SublimeText. Web Development with Sublime? Definitely. It is still supported in commercial extensions and programs. What matters are the ones that will help your productivity. Having more plugins or extensions doesn't matter. SublimeText still has customers and dedicated followers. It's easy to use and works out of the box. That said, if you work as a dev or have gotten paid before for web related job, you can afford the license easily. You can use SublimeText forever without paying. With everyone jumping to VS Code, will those plugins be maintained? My final thought is, you could probably get ST set up to your liking and with similar bells and whistles that VS Code offers but that would likely be a painful process. I opened the same file in ST and it opened instantaneously. The other day I had to look at a 28MB CSV file and wanted to do in an IDE. I don't think VS Code will ever match the performance, speed, and low memory consumption of ST. I hate to say it, but I'm sold on VS Code. I'm a JS/PHP developer and having the IDE clean things up for me on save actually allows me to move faster and confidently. I made a deal that I would try out VS Code for one week. I was jealous of a few things they had (Prettier) but I was able to blow their mind with the speed and other aspects of ST. I started a new job about 2 years ago and everyone was using VS Code. I've been a long time user and fan of ST. I guess my question is, is Sublime Text better than Visual Studio Code for Web development, and is the license worth its hefty price tag? I like intellisense and Powershell terminals directly in the same window, but apart from that I haven't been using much of it differently than I would a "normal" text editor. I am not at all married to Visual Studio Code. I believe there's also a free tier and a paid tier (or some licensing of some kind). I gathered (perhaps erroneously?) that Sublime Text does not do code verification, perhaps not intellisense either, and I think you cannot debug either (please correct me if I'm wrong). At first I thought it was like Notepad++, but people seem to compare it more with Atom or Visual Studio Code. ![]() However, I've seen websites about Sublime Text, and people seem to really enjoy it. I have been using Visual Studio Code for this short time (a few weeks) I had to use Visual Studio in my previous job, so it was kind of a "natural" path for me I guess. I'm in no way a definitive guide, just wanted to post my experience here.I have a quick question about Sublime Text. I could be me, but I feel it like a really well thought modular text editor that interacts with other stuff in a huge ecosystem. It has everything I loved about Atom but with a faster experience and better terminal-grammar plug ins. People have told me that the loading times now are better and the Atom team works to improve it. The loading time, both in start up and loading new projects. There was a thing that made me change, though. The project sidebar was much better, the auto completion worked flawlessly and the plugins were very helpful. I recommend it mostly for newsletters and that stuff that requires a non-standard html structure.Ītom: I switched from Brackets to Atom and it was a huge improvement. The auto completion is a little weird sometimes and the project sidebar (the one with the folders and files) is not my favorite. ![]() It's great if you're making newsletters (because of the tables, tr's and td's) because it has a Live Preview function that highlights in the browser the html tag you're selecting in your code. Hi! I used the three of them and I'll post my conclusions.īrackets: The company I worked for made me use it. For example, the DAZ CMU "hip-corrected" BVH animations have the character's hip bone on the ground in its rest pose, which is bad. The best solution is to use a BVH animation in which the character's feet are on the ground in its rest pose. The armature of a BVH animation may have a height above the ground in its rest pose which is different from the height above the ground of an MMD model in its rest pose. The controls for turning off the IK of a model are in the "model manipulation" area at the bottom left of MikuMikuDance.Ĩ. Remember to click "Register" after turning off the IK of each bone. Turn off the IK of all 4 leg and toe IK bones. To solve that problem, you will need to turn off the IK of all 4 leg and foot IK bones of your character in MikuMikuDance. A BVH animation will almost never animate MMD leg and foot IK bones. Enable this VMD export option: "Treat Current Pose as Rest Pose".ħ. When you export the animation to a VMD file, a panel of VMD export options appears on the bottom left side of Blender. In the first frame of the animation, in Blender's pose mode, change the arms pose from a T-pose to an A-pose, by rotating the character's left arm 45 degrees, and rotating the character's right arm -45 degrees. The standard rest pose for an MMD armature is an A-pose, with the character's arms being rotated downwards at an approximately 45 degree angle.īefore you export the animation to VMD, you need to create an A-Pose. In the rest pose of the armatures of most BVH files, the arms of the character are outstretched at a 90 degree angle from its body in a T-pose. The rest pose of the armature in a BVH animation may be different than the rest pose of an MMD model. My journal entry about this Bones renamer add-on is here:Ħ. ![]() Here is the download link to my bones renaming Blender add-on: ![]() So if you want to animate MMD characters, you will need to rename the bones from your BVH animation to MMD Japanese bone names. You need the names of bones in your BVH armature animation to be the same as the names of the bones in the character who you are trying to animate. In Blender's Import BVH options panel, enable the ScaleFPS option.ĥ. When you import a BVH animation into Blender, an "Import BVH" options panel appears at the lower left. Before you import a BVH animation into Blender, set the frame rate of your scene to 30 FPS (under the Render tab of Blender's Properties Window.) A BVH animation may have a different frame rate than the normal frame rete of a VMD animation, which is 30 FPS (30 frames per second). Blender automaticallly converts an inputted fraction to a decimal number.Ĥ. When you convert a DAZ/Poser BVH animation to VMD, you can input 1/7 as the Scale value and 1/7 is an adequate approximation. The information on this page can give you some idea of how you may need to calculate the correct scaling for your imported BVH animation: In Blender's Import BVH options panel, beside the word "Scale", input the Scale that you want. The scale(size) of the armature in a BVH file may be different from the scale of the armature of an MMD model. If you are converting a DAZ/Poser BVH to VMD, you do not need to change these 2 options away from their default values.ģ. If that doesn't give you a correct-looking animation, then you need to experiment with these 2 import options until you find the option which works. Try the default options (-Z forward, Y up). The X,Y,Z axes and + and - directions of bone rotations may not be defined in the same way in a BVH file as they are defined in an MMD model. Open this file (from the Blender program folder) in a text editor, such as Notepad++:įile = open(file_path, 'rU', encoding = 'utf-8')Ģ. This simple bug fix will work if your BVH file is a unicode utf-8 text file: If you try to import a BVH file which has Japanese bone names, it won't import into Blender, and you will get an error message. There then was a succession of high profile women doing this sort of work." "Up until then, it had been a pretty male-dominated environment. "She was a young woman saying that women are equally well-placed to do really first class research in the field. But this photograph helped people recognise the importance of a female perspective within the scientific research community, he says. Mark Wright, director of science at conservation charity WWF, says Goodall was "a real trailblazer" in many ways. Until then, tool use like this was believed to distinguish humans from all other animals. Goodall was the first person to notice that chimpanzees were stripping down stiff blades of grass, then sticking them into holes in termite mounds to catch and eat these insects. "Thus opened up a whole new way of understanding who animals are and showed that we humans are a part of and not separated from the rest of the animal kingdom." The photo, along with van Lawick's documentary film People of the Forest: The Chimps of Gombe, "forced science to abandon the idea that humans were the only sentient beings with personalities, minds and emotions" says Goodall, adding that she was taught this as a student at Cambridge University in 1962. ![]() That same year, National Geographic released Miss Goodall and the Wild Chimpanzees, the first of many documentaries showcasing Goodall's research. Another photo of Goodall studying the Gombe chimpanzees was on the front cover and published as part of van Lawick's photo series titled "New Discoveries Among Africa's Chimpanzees". In the photo, Goodall is shown crouching down and reaching out with her right arm to Flint, the first chimp to be born at Gombe after Goodall's arrival, as he extends his left arm up towards her.Īs Goodall tells BBC Future, this was long before the era of digital photography, so she had to wait a while before she could see the printed images. But it was in 1964 that he took what became an iconic photograph of Goodall with an infant chimp known as Flint. Her late husband, Dutch photographer Hugo van Lawick, went to Gombe in 1962 where he took thousands of photographs of Goodall. One image taken of Goodall during this time captured her fresh approach, challenged the scientific norm and has become one of the world's most recognisable photos.
